Energy Cords in Relationships: Why Some Connections Are So Hard to Let Go
Sometimes a relationship ends, but the connection does not seem to end with it. If you are wondering, “Why can’t I let go of someone?” or “Why do I still feel connected to my ex?”, there may be more than one reason the relationship still feels present.
There are many ways to understand the bond
Grief and unresolved emotions can make separation difficult, for starters. Or a toxic relationship attachment can be particularly hard to release when the relationship was intense or unpredictable. Or past life connections and unfinished soul karmic patterns could be seeking to be witnessed and released.
Shamanic traditions offer another way of understanding that lingering connection. Energetic cords between people.
What “energy cord” means here
Kristy uses energy cords in relationships as a spiritual framework for connections that continue to feel present after circumstances have changed.
You might experience this as a strong spiritual connection to someone, even when you know the relationship itself is over.
The question then becomes - what is keeping that connection alive for you?
Why painful connections can feel strongest
Intensity does not always equate to compatibility. This is important. In fact, sometimes the relationships that hurt us can also be the hardest to release. This is particularly relevant when a relationship involved trauma, intense attachment, manipulation or repeated cycles of connection and disconnection.
Relationships where there is a strong emotional charge be it attraction, conflict, fascination, fear, love, or even hate and anger can create powerful experiences of connection. The more attention that is given to it the more psychologically and emotionally significant the relationship can become. This is where renumeration can become energetically draining with a powerful sense of being tethered to the situation and unable to let it go.
Some relationships can become deeply troubling or toxic. If a relationship involves abuse or coercion, however, practical safety and qualified professional support should always take priority over an energetic interpretation.
A shamanic perspective
Kristy may use ritual or shamanic practice to explore the energetic ties that still feel active. Cord cutting aims to release what no longer needs to have the same hold over your present.
It can take time for the mind, body, emotions and sense of identity to adjust to a new reality. So give yourself time.
Sometimes intense attraction may not be a reflection of another person but your own unresolved emotional material, attachment patterns, unmet needs or the activation of something deeply familiar. The process of healing is ultimately about reclaiming the right to decide where attention, energy, love and personal power are placed.
